Shani

Saturn is called Shani (Sanskrit शनि), or "Sani", and represents career and longevity. It is also the bringer of bad luck and hardship. Shani is one of the Vedic astrology's Navagraha, which are the nine primary celestial beings in Hindu astronomy, or Jyotiṣa (ज्योतिष). Shani is embodied in the planet Saturn. Shani is the Lord of Saturday; the word Shani also denotes the seventh day or Saturday in most Indian languages. The word Shani comes from Shanaye Kramati Sa: (शनये क्रमति सः), or "the one who moves slowly", as Saturn takes about 30 years to revolve around the Sun.

Shani es depicted as a man og dark complexion, dressed in dark, blue or black clothes. He holds a sword og a scepter (danga) and a bow with an arrow. Shani rides a buffalo and sometimes a crow.

It is believed, at Shani is an incarnation of Krishna.
